To a journaling junkie like myself, this time of year holds a magnetic attraction. I can ride high on the high waves of goal setting, BIG dreams, gleaning from lessons learned, and hoping for fresh starts. Oh the musical scratch of pen on paper!
BUT
Even I must admit, at times, I get overwhelmed. Looking to my left and right dims the bright glow of what I think I've accomplished and soon I find myself giving up on the process altogether.
This year I decided a shift was in order - to focus on gratitude. Nothing zaps the pesky flies of discouragement like a joyful scoop of gratefulness.
So instead of a long list of this year's wins and losses (not a thing wrong with those by the way), I made this list:
Top Ten things I’m thankful for in 2015:
Good Health
Deepened Friendships
Church community
Reliable Vehicle
Kind and Gracious Clients
Position Teaching Photography
Closed Doors
Travel Opportunities
Book clubs
Failures
Another favorite of mine this time of year are these Reflect and Refocus Sheets from The {well} Studio. Simple and doable, these nugget size questions allow for looking back and looking forward without the overwhelm!
Happy happy new year everyone! Cheers to 2016!
P.P.S. I thought the above night shot from the Petroleum Club of Fort Worth was the perfect picture for a post highlighting the end of the year. I heart cityscapes at night!
